3 Neighborhoods to Visit If You’re Thinking About Moving to Valdosta
Start here if you don’t know where to begin
If you’re moving to Valdosta—especially if you’re PCSing to Moody AFB—the hardest part is usually figuring out where you should actually live.
Instead of overwhelming you with every option, here are 3 neighborhoods (and areas) I always recommend starting with. Each one offers something a little different depending on your lifestyle, budget, and priorities.
1. Knights Academy Area
Best for: Moody AFB commute + newer homes
If being close to Moody AFB is your priority, start here.
The Knights Academy area sits on the north side of Valdosta, making it one of the most practical choices for military families. Your commute is shorter, and you’re right off Bemiss Road where you’ll find most of your day-to-day essentials.
What you’ll find:
Newer construction homes
Move-in ready options
Family-friendly streets
What to know:
Traffic can pick up on Bemiss during peak hours
More residential than “entertainment-focused”
Why visit:
This is one of the easiest neighborhoods to picture yourself living in right away.
2. Crestwood Subdivision
Best for: Community feel + convenient location
Crestwood is one of those neighborhoods that feels like a true community.
It’s still convenient to Moody AFB, but also gives you easier access to more of Valdosta—shopping, restaurants, and schools.
What you’ll find:
Well-kept homes
Established neighborhood feel
Families and long-term residents
What to know:
Homes may be slightly older than new construction areas
Inventory can be competitive
Why visit:
If you want something that feels a little more “settled” and rooted, this is a great place to drive through.
3. Stone Creek
Best for: Amenities + elevated feel
If you’re looking for something a little more elevated, Stone Creek is worth seeing.
This is a golf course community with amenities that go beyond just the home itself.
What you’ll find:
Larger homes and lots
Golf course views
Access to amenities (pool, clubhouse, etc.)
What to know:
Higher price point than most areas
HOA involvement
Why visit:
Even if it’s just to compare, this gives you a feel for what “top end” living looks like in Valdosta.
Final Thoughts
You don’t have to figure everything out before you get here.
