1. Take a Pottery Class Together
The Turner Center for the Arts offers beginner-friendly pottery classes at its Hudson Pottery Studio, located at 104 Webster Street.
Its four-week weekday pottery class introduces students to hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing and other basic ceramic techniques. The class is open to ages 16 and older, and registration should be completed early because the smaller sessions can fill quickly.

2. Solve an Escape Room
Put your communication skills to the test at Epic Escape Rooms on North Ashley Street.
You will work together to solve puzzles, follow clues and escape before time expires. The rooms are private, reservations are required and at least two players are needed, which makes this an easy activity to book specifically for a couple.

3. Try Axe Throwing
Sköll Axe Throwing at 128 N. Ashley Street offers a more active alternative to a traditional Downtown Valdosta date.
Neither person needs previous experience. The targets are made with softer wood that helps beginners stick their axes, so you can focus on learning, competing and seeing who gets the first bull’s-eye.

4. Learn to Wakeboard
For a date that pushes both of you outside your comfort zones, visit Valdosta Wake Compound on Old Clyattville Road.
First-time riders can book the Rookie Lesson package, which includes one-on-one coaching, rental equipment and instruction on the beginner two-tower cable system. The package is currently listed at $65 per person.
5. Paddle Reed Bingham Lake
Reed Bingham State Park is approximately 30 minutes north of Valdosta and makes an easy daytime getaway.
Rent a two-seat kayak from the visitor center and paddle Reed Bingham Lake or the section of the Little River located inside the park. Tandem rentals start at $10.80 for one hour, and life jackets and paddles are included.

6. Walk the Grand Bay Boardwalk
Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area is one of the most peaceful outdoor spaces near Valdosta.
Enter from Knight’s Academy Road, walk the boardwalk through the cypress wetlands and climb the lookout tower for the best view. Go early in the morning for a better chance of seeing wildlife or around 6:30 p.m. when the temperature begins to cool.
The automatic gate closes at 8 p.m., so give yourself enough time to finish the walk and exit the property.
7. Go Skating or Play Mini Golf
Roll Out Family Fun Center on North Oak Street Extension gives you several date options in one place.
Choose between roller skating, the arcade and its 18-hole outdoor mini-golf course. Friday and Saturday are good choices for an evening date because the center stays open later than it does during the week.

8. Spend a Saturday at Fifth Day Farm
Fifth Day Farm is a four-acre petting farm located on Clyattville-Nankin Road.
Walk around the property, meet the rescued animals and take a break beneath the farm’s 410-year-old oak tree. Picnic tables are available with admission unless the area has been reserved for a private event.
The farm is currently open to regular visitors on Saturdays from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and admission is $12 per person.

9. Plan an Animal-Centered Wild Adventures Date
Wild Adventures can be a completely different experience when you slow down and focus on the animal exhibits instead of rushing from ride to ride.
Explore Giraffe Overlook or reserve one of the park’s up-close animal encounters. Some experiences and feedings require an additional purchase, so review the available options before your visit or ask about them when you enter the park.
10. Build Desserts for Each Other at The Mix
For a short and affordable date, visit The Mix Valdosta on Jerry Jones Drive.
